CHANGE TO HOCKEY EDMONTON ELITE PLAYER MOVEMENT APPLICATION DATES

In December 2025, Hockey Edmonton in collaboration with the four Edmonton Athletic Clubs, Canadian Athletic Club, Knights of Columbus, Maple Leaf Athletic Club, and South Side Athletic Club, started a review of the Hockey Edmonton Player Movement Process. It was determined the current opening and closing application dates no longer meet the needs of Elite Stream Players. The biggest concern with the current dates was the inability for players wishing to access Elite Player Movement to attend Spring Identification Camps with the requested Club.    

Beginning March 1, Edmonton Resident Players who wish to start AAA or AA tryouts with an Edmonton Athletic Club that is not the Resident Club, can now apply to the Hockey Edmonton Elite Player Movement Committee for consideration until March 15, with decision letters being sent out prior to the opening of Spring ID camps scheduled for April. The March 1-15 dates only apply to Edmonton Players wishing to access AAA and AA tryouts and does not apply to players wishing to access Player Movement to participate in Community/Tiered Hockey programs. Details on the Community Tiered Hockey Player Movement will be available prior to the opening of registration for the 2026-27 Hockey season.   

Edmonton Resident Players will no longer submit applications May 1-May 31. Players who wish to apply to the Hockey Edmonton Elite Player Movement to start AAA and AA tryouts with an alternative Athletic Club can now submit applications using the online portal on the Hockey Edmonton website https://www.playhockeyedmonton.ca/playermovement that will be open March 1- March 15.   

Summary  

  • March 1- March 15 Edmonton Resident Players can apply to the Hockey Edmonton Elite Player Movement Committee.  

  • Late applications will not be accepted after March 15.  

  • Process is open to Edmonton Resident Players only. 

  • Elite Player Movement Decisions will be returned to applicants prior to Spring ID Camps opening in April.
